As electrification, smart devices, and connected technologies continue reshaping modern lifestyles, cable components are evolving from simple functional parts into products that require enhanced aesthetics, durability, and user experience. From electric vehicle (EV) charging cables to consumer electronic wires, manufacturers are increasingly seeking high-performance TPU materials that combine mechanical reliability with premium surface properties.
According to the International Energy Agency, global EV charging infrastructure continued expanding, with public charging points growing significantly as electric vehicle adoption increased. The development of more accessible charging networks is driving demand for durable, flexible, and user-friendly charging components, including advanced cable jackets and connectors. To address these evolving material requirements, SILIKE introduces Si-TPV 2335-65A Matt Effect Masterbatch, an innovative TPU-based surface modification solution designed to help manufacturers create matte finish TPU cables with improved abrasion resistance, soft-touch feel, and long-lasting appearance stability.
Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) has become a preferred material for flexible cable jackets due to its excellent:
However, conventional TPU surfaces often present challenges when used in premium applications:
For applications such as EV charging cables, smart device cables, and industrial flexible wires, surface performance is becoming increasingly important. Users expect products that not only perform reliably but also provide a comfortable and refined interaction experience.
This shift has accelerated interest in matte TPU solutions, soft-touch polymer additives, and durable surface modification technologies.
Unlike traditional matting solutions that rely on fillers or incompatible additives, Si-TPV 2335-65A TPU matte effect masterbatch is developed based on SILIKE’s dynamic vulcanization and compatibility technologies. By combining TPU processability with silicone elastomer characteristics, it creates a unique microstructure that enables TPU products to achieve a refined matte appearance while maintaining excellent surface performance.
Si-TPV 2335-65A helps manufacturers create low-gloss matte TPU surfaces with reduced plastic-like appearance, enhanced visual appeal, and consistent aesthetics across production batches. This makes it an ideal solution for cable applications where both functional performance and premium design are essential, including EV charging cables, consumer electronics cables, and high-end flexible wires.
Beyond aesthetics, Si-TPV 2335-65A also enhances the durability of TPU cable jackets exposed to demanding conditions such as repeated bending, pulling, dragging, connector insertion cycles, and surface friction during transportation or daily use. By improving abrasion resistance, scratch resistance, and overall surface durability, it helps extend the service life and maintain the quality of flexible cable products.

The continued expansion of electrification infrastructure is creating new requirements for materials used in charging equipment and electrical components. Industry analysis from McKinsey & Company highlights that electrification equipment supply chains are facing increasing demands related to infrastructure expansion, equipment performance, and manufacturing capabilities. As cable manufacturers explore materials that balance durability, processing efficiency, and user experience, advanced TPU modifiers such as Si-TPV 2335-65A provide a pathway toward:
✔ Creates a uniform matte finish for TPU products
✔ Enhances soft-touch and silky surface feel
✔ Improves abrasion and scratch resistance
✔ Supports long-term surface stability
✔ Reduces plastic-like appearance
✔ Compatible with TPU extrusion and injection molding processes
✔ Suitable for EV cables, electronic cables, and flexible cable applications

As product design increasingly emphasizes user interaction and premium experiences, cable materials are expected to provide not only protection but also improved tactile performance. Si-TPV 2335-65A enables TPU surfaces to achieve a smooth, silky, and soft-touch feel while reducing sticky sensations and maintaining the processing advantages of thermoplastic materials.
This enhanced tactile performance makes it suitable for applications requiring frequent human contact, such as EV charging cable handles, smart device accessories, portable electronic cables, and premium flexible wires, where comfort and handling experience directly influence user perception.
Compared with conventional low molecular weight surface additives that may cause issues such as blooming, migration, surface contamination, or changing tactile properties over time, Si-TPV 2335-65A is designed to provide stable long-term surface performance. It helps maintain consistent matte appearance, reliable soft-touch characteristics, and cleaner surfaces throughout product use.
As industries move toward smarter devices, electrified transportation, and premium user experiences, cable materials must deliver more than basic protection. They must combine durability, aesthetics, and tactile comfort.
Si-TPV 2335-65A Matt Effect Masterbatch provides an advanced TPU surface modification solution, helping manufacturers develop next-generation TPU cables with premium matte appearance, soft-touch performance, and enhanced durability.
By integrating surface innovation with reliable polymer technology, SILIKE continues supporting material solutions for the evolving demands of modern cable applications.

„Thanks to the LUVIR technology, the solder resist process could be switched directly from the previously used mask exposure to direct exposure. As an outstanding digital solution on the market, this technology has been able to demonstrate fast process times and superior quality on our certified conventional ink in production. This allowed us to fully digitize the solder mask process at low cost – without process or ink adjustments. An excellent benefit to our production in Rot am See.“

“Since 2019, we have been running the Limata X1000 LDI system (including LUVIR for solder mask imaging) in daily production as an addition to our current process with film. The machine was capable of properly exposing Taiyo PSR-4000 BN (DI) solder mask types on normal to high-copper boards using a new and unique direct imaging process. The machine operating interface is very user friendly which allowed for a quick technical training curve. The pre-registration processing reduced several seconds of production time at every print. Limata support and service staff is incomparable. They supported our team every step of the way at basically any time of the day or night, with literally, an immediate response time, customizing the software interface to best fit our Operations and needs.
We have exposed more than 8,000 prints since end of October, on various solder mask colors and some resist film panels. Limata, has proven to be very capable and innovative. They are a strong contender in the industry.
We have very much enjoyed this project, and working with the team!
Thank you Limata for the continued support and being a part of our growth.”

As a replacement to our current contact exposure process with film, the LIMATA X2000 system including LUVIR-Technology was capable of properly exposing non-LDI solder mask types using a direct imaging process. The machine offers cutting edge software with a very intuitive operating interface which allowed for quick technician training curve. The dual drawer system combined with pre-registration processing reduced several seconds of production time at every machine cycle. Limata support and service staff is world class. They added software patches to keep production running at shortest possible response times, customized the software interface to best fit our in-house Operations system, and even wrote a step-by-step machine processing manual. As a result of the project, we have exposed more than 16,000 times on various product types and solder mask brands/colors. Limata, in a very short timeframe as a company, has definitely shown they are truly innovative and will be challenging the industry of direct imaging for the top spot.
